Amy’s enchanting artwork is at the heart of this season’s Fall Muse Box, woven into a collection that holds the themes of Gratitude & Grief. Her portraits, layered textures, and mystical touches remind us that art can hold both beauty and healing, shadow and light.
Inside your Fall Muse Box, you’ll find Amy’s artwork featured across our ritual papers, cutouts, and coordinating digital collection — ready to inspire your creative rituals all season long.
✨ About Amy Fig
Amy is an artist, mother, teacher, and journal maker from Tulare, California. She’s a mom of three young adults, moving through big life transitions like menopause, empty nesting, and stepping back into the workforce after years as a stay-at-home mom.
For over 15 years, she has explored mixed media painting with acrylics, gouache, inks, and collage, while also creating handmade journals and digital kits through her Etsy shop Book of Magick. Her journal practice has become her meditation — a space where art heals, transforms, and reveals the stories words can’t always hold.
🌙 Amy’s Words on Art, Life & Healing
On her art practice:
“My art journal practice has become my meditation practice and it heals me every time I sit down to work in it. I often take the designs I create in my journal to the canvas, and I’ve sold prints of my journal pages too.”
On inspiration:
“The inspiration for my art comes from the challenges of my everyday life. I’m always conveying a message of encouragement to myself or sometimes a love note. I love to use portraits of women and animals in my work because their expressions show emotions and tell stories without words.”
On being featured in the Fall Muse Box:
“I’m so excited to be The Featured Artist for Fall because it’s my favorite season! I love to create collections of images and what could be better than fall leaves, coffee mugs, pumpkins, witches, full moons, Dia de los Muertos figures, altars, etc.”
On gratitude & grief:
“I’m turning 50 this year and I’m so grateful to be where I’m at in life — but there is grief in me that I’ve been dealing with. I’m grieving the woman I used to be, the caregiver who always put her children’s needs first. That version of me is no longer needed. I’m learning to let her go and be this next version of me.”
On her wisdom for our Comadre community:
“Art journaling will change your life if you commit to it. Just one hour a week is enough to grow your art skills, strengthen your intuition, and feel confident in your own skin. Once you get started, I have a feeling you’ll want to jump into your journal as often as possible. It happened for me and I’m a better human/artist because of it.”
